Site Rescue - user centred design
Should serious usability problems be identified then we may propose the implementation of user centred design methodologies to ensure that all key usability issues are identified and corrected.
These exercises can involve gathering together a group of sample users and asking them to perform specific website tasks. These sessions are observed and recorded so that the users' successes or failures in completing the tasks can be analyzed.
Once usability issues have been identified using this technique then the problem areas of the site can be redesigned to eliminate the problems. Project time-frames permitting, the site can then be retested to confirm that all major usability issues have been adequately addressed.
There are also less involved usability exercises that can be more appropriate for certain project types.
